Frequently Asked Questions

Where does my donation actually go?
Your donation funds FlySafe's legal and policy work behind reforming the Montreal Convention, fact-checking, compliance, and resources for women and families, including volunteers stationed at airports distributing flyers and information. FlySafe does not distribute donations directly to individuals as financial assistance.
Is there a minimum donation?
You can donate a suggested $20, or choose your own amount, whatever feels right to you. Every donor receives a gift from one of our partner brands as a thank you.
Is FlySafe affiliated with any airline, law firm, or corporation?
No. FlySafe is an independent nonprofit organization, not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any airline, law firm, or corporation.
Is FlySafe a law firm? Can you represent me legally?
No. FlySafe does not provide legal advice or individual legal representation. Information on this site is educational, not a substitute for consulting a qualified attorney.
If I reach out for help, is what I share confidential?
Yes. We keep what you share confidential and respond only privately. We ask that you also keep that exchange private. The one limit: we may be required by law to disclose information in specific legal circumstances. The FlySafe team reviews support messages regularly and responds as quickly as we're able.
What happens after I sign the petition?
Your name joins our public campaign for reform. It may be shared, individually or in aggregate, with lawmakers, regulators, and media as part of that effort.
How many signatures do you actually need?
No signature count legally guarantees a response, there's no such threshold. But here's our real plan: at 1,000 signatures, we start pitching press. At 10,000, we formally deliver the petition to the offices of both New York senators. At 100,000, it becomes a national story, delivered directly to the Congressional committees that oversee aviation policy and to the Department of Transportation.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. FlySafe is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How can I get involved beyond donating or signing the petition?
Reach out through our Contact page. We're building a network of volunteers, legal and mental health partners, and people willing to help spread the word.
Do you only help women?
Our mission centers on women's safety while traveling, but minors are affected by the same gaps in the law, and the reform we're pushing for protects them too.
